The Issaquah Boys Varsity Soccer season kicked off last week with two non-conference matchups against Eastside Catholic and Tahoma. The Eagles showed strong energy to start the season, finishing the week with one tie and one loss while demonstrating promising momentum on both sides of the field. The team continues to focus on tightening key areas as they prepare to head into Week 2.
Game 1: Issaquah vs. Eastside Catholic (Final Score: 2–2 Tie) The season opener against Eastside Catholic proved to be a competitive battle from start to finish. Freshman goalkeeper Andrew Contino got the start and delivered a solid first-half performance, helping the Eagles stay composed early in the match. Eastside Catholic struck first, putting Issaquah behind early. The Eagles quickly responded with strong attacking pressure, and senior James Hutson leveled the match with a goal assisted by junior Evan Rudolph to even the score at 1-1. In the second half, Eastside Catholic began to shift the momentum and eventually took the lead in the match. With time winding down, Ishan Singh scored a clutch late goal to even the score at 2–2. Junior goalkeeper Rishin Tandon stepped in during the second half and delivered an impressive late game save to secure the tie.
Game 2: Issaquah vs. Tahoma (Final Score: Tahoma 2 – Issaquah 1) The Eagles came out firing against Tahoma, quickly setting the tone with an early goal from Isaac Jun. Issaquah controlled much of the first half, generating five shots on goal and maintaining strong attacking pressure. In the second half Tahoma shifted the momentum.
